About the Tumblr

“A Doctor World” is the fan-made mash-up of the online webcomic “a softer world” and “Doctor Who”. Using the layout and text from the original comics and screen shots, pictures, and gifs from Doctor Who, we create images that are stripped of context and then reinterpreted in a Whovian sense. The original “A Softer World” comics tend to avoid continuity or specific context, which makes it natural for a single comic to be interpreted in many different ways. “A Doctor World” explores both canon and fanon, all under the constrictions of the original comic text.

About Ally

Aline or Ally. Twenty. Germany. Going to film school. Dreaming about leaving this part of Europe behind and moving to England to work for BBC. Or move to Dublin and be a struggling writer. Thinks in English because thinking in your first language is overrated. Has a heart for movies and TV shows, the written word, soundtracks, cooking and writing. Has a second heart reserved for “Doctor Who”, because it makes everything possible. Especially tearing up during almost every episode, even though it’s already been seen a billion times. Also likes to cry violently during “The End of Time” and throw pillows at her TV when the Doctor regenerates, even though she loves the next one. Likes “A Softer World” because it appeals to the same part of her that loves Chuck Palahniuk. Because nothing is as real as her imagined world.

About Megan

Megan, 19. Currently a fourth-year at University of Georgia, majoring in English and minoring in linguistics because she really, really likes words. She also likes other nerdy stuff like writing stories, conducting science experiments, fixing things, accruing library fines, learning languages (currently on Spanish, Hebrew, and Korean), baking, and having overly intellectual-sounding discussions. In her college admissions interview, she was asked to describe herself in two words and picked “weird” and “sarcastic”, which pretty much sums up why she loves “Doctor Who” and “A Softer World”, respectively. After college, she plans on teaching English in Asia and then heading west to Europe, where she would like to either join a hippie farm commune or get a Master’s degree in creative writing. Possibly both.
